Moving Connections – Carers

Carer’s wellbeing is important. This is a space for Carers to pause and refresh. To shift from doing to being.

Carer's wellbeing

People who provide care to loved ones often experience a decreased sense of wellbeing due to the demands of their role and a lack of opportunites for self care. This can result in feelings of stress, anxiety or low mood, and perhaps feeling overwhelmed or isolated.

According to Carers UK, the pressures of caring can take a significant toll on carers’ physical and mental health. In the 2021 State of Caring Survey, 30% of carers say their mental health is either bad or very bad.

Caring can be physically demanding. In addition carer’s may experience mental strain caused by being responsible for someone while dealing with their own financial or health worries and struggling to get a break from their caring role. Carers are also less likely to find time or motivation for physical activity due to their caring role. Consequently, they do not get the mental and physical health benefits of being active.

Moving Connections sessions provide an opportunity for self care. Through creative reflection, movement, breathwork and somatic awareness participants are guided to find ways to regulate the nervous system, process emotions and unstick patterns held in the mind and body.

In these sessions, offered by Sound Mind Body Wellbeing in collaboration with ADCA – Audlem & District Community Action for Carers in the Nantwich and Rural Care Community the focus is not on your caring role, but on you.
