Sound Mind Body Wellbeing is a Community Interest Company limited by guarantee.
This means we exist for the benefit of our community rather than the financial profit of shareholders.
We welcome referrals from service partners and health practitioners, as well as enquiries from individuals.

We are a not for profit organisation with charitable aims and our funding comes from four primary sources:
- Initial seed money from the Directors
- Fees from our open classes
- Contributions from those attending community activities
- Grant funding from external sources
Our Vision

We seek to empower our clients through movement and body awareness and promote connection with others through movement. We believe that by helping our clients to discover the mind-body connection and encouraging them to continue an embodied approach in their everyday lives, they will discover a sense of greater empowerment in life outside the sessions.
Movement therapies for better mental health and physical wellbeing lie at the core of our endeavours, and our predominant focus is to provide a service in the heart of our community.
Taking inspiration from the transformative power of movement and the intrinsic connection between mind and body, we aim to create therapeutic change in the lives of our participants by creatively addressing emotional, physical, mental, and social aspects of their stories. Our therapy sessions aim to provide the opportunity for individuals to explore and express their feelings through the medium of movement, resulting in a more satisfying life experience and positive relationships.

This embodied approach is unlike traditional talking therapies, and has been proven to be effective with many kinds of emotional difficulties.
We also bring a fresh perspective in our approach to physical health conditions. Using evidence based methods, we bring a creative approach to working with balance and falls prevention. Sessions also draw on holistic and somatic modalities harnessing the body’s natural and innate healing and restorative powers.
The Directors

Shirley is our CEO and Practice Director.
She is a Dance Movement Psychotherapist with over 4 decades of experience working in movement and embodiment with people from all walks of life.
Her passion for all things mind body related and the role creativity plays in mental wellbeing are the driving force behind the company.
In her free time she enjoys spending time in nature and is most often found tending her greenhouse and garden. She also practices and teaches tai chi and qi gong.

Tony is our head of logistics and all things practical.
With a career spanning time in the military, local authority, the police and in the NHS, his organisational skills are an invaluable support to the company.
With typical humour, he downplays his abilities by describing himself as a former ‘lifter of heavy things’. In his free time he enjoys walking and reading science fiction novels. He also practices and teaches tai chi and qi gong.

Sandra is the voice of our participants.
She has lived experience of all aspects of our practice and, as an experienced holistic healer herself, understands the work from the inside out.
In her free time she enjoys many creative pursuits, including singing and writing. She practices tai chi and qi gong both for the physical benefits and as a means of reflection and insight.

Jenny has oversight of our governance and safeguarding.
She is an Occupational Therapist by profession and understands the importance of meaningful activities and wellbeing.
A Mum of 2 children, she spends most weekends on the Rugby field watching her youngest. In her free time she loves going to the theatre and being outside. For self care she practices qi gong, which she describes as her ‘escape from the rest of the world’, and really benefits on a physical and emotional level from the practice.
